AN ECHUCA woman is changing lives in Vanuatu one hearing aid at a time.

Tina Kerr and Mildura’s Don MacDonald, from Country Hearing, were recently part of a team who helped fit more than 500 people with hearing devices.

Tina said the humanitarian mission would impact thousands.

‘‘This has a huge effect on local lives, impacting upon thousands of people when you consider their families and friends as well,’’ Tina said. ‘‘It was an extremely rewarding experience.

‘‘To be able to give the gift of hearing is a fantastic feeling.’’

The Starkey Foundation organised the mission, providing the hearing aids, funding and training of local people to support the project’s future.

Tina said Country Hearing would continue to donate its time and expertise to the foundation by making clinicians available for further missions.

‘‘The Starkey foundation has a number of missions in Asia and Africa. If people would like to donate their old hearing aids to the foundation they can be dropped into our clinic at 83A Nish St, Echuca,’’ she said.

Country Hearing is an independent provider based in Echuca.

Tina also visits Cohuna Medical Practice.
